This bill would amend New York City’s cooling tower inspection requirements by requiring building owners to inspect and test cooling towers for the presence of microbes at least as frequently as every 30 days during periods of the year such cooling towers are in use. The bill further requires that, if a heat-related emergency occurs, such cooling towers shall be inspected and tested on the earlier of either 14 days from the date of the most recent inspection and testing, or 14 days from the first day of a heat-related emergency if such day occurs more than 14 days after the date of most recent inspection and testing.
