This bill would direct the Commissioner of Consumer and Worker Protection, in consultation with the Chairperson of the New York City Commission on Human Rights, the Director of the Office of Immigrant Affairs, and the Commissioner for the Aging, to establish and implement an ongoing outreach and education program for New York City residents about scams related to Hajj. The outreach and education would address fraudulent offers of travel, accommodation, and catering services and visas, and involve recommendation of practices for identifying fraud and booking related services. The involved agency heads would have to, at a minimum, develop and update informational materials and distribute them to the public and post them online.
