This bill would require the New York City (NYC) Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, in coordination with the NYC Department for the Aging, to study the geographic distribution of healthcare facilities in relation to the distribution of older adults living in NYC, and to report the findings of the study. The study would include a map or visual representation of healthcare facility locations and capacities, and the number and distribution of older adults living in each community district, as well as an analysis of whether sufficient facility capacity to meet the specific needs of older adults exists in each community district. The report would also include recommendations on improving access to healthcare facilities for older adults living in each community district, including recommendations as necessary on expanding access to linguistically and culturally competent care for specific older adult populations.
