This bill would require the Commissioner of Transportation, in consultation with the Department of Small Business Services, the Commissioner of Environmental Protection, and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, to study and report on the feasibility of siting new ferry service to City Island. The Commissioner of Transportation would be required to submit a report containing the findings of the study to the Mayor and Speaker of the Council within one year after the law takes effect. If the report determines that one or more sites are suitable, the Commissioner would then have to select a site and begin design and construction of a ferry landing there within one year of submitting the report, and begin ferry service to and from that landing once construction is complete.
