This bill would direct the Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s (HPD) Homeowner Advocate, in consultation with the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, the Department of Social Services, and the Mayor’s Office of Deed Theft Prevention, to establish and implement an ongoing outreach and education program for homeowners in areas that are experiencing displacement to inform them of assistance and services that are available to them. HPD would have to determine which community districts are experiencing the greatest rates of displacement before conducting outreach in those community districts.
