This bill would prohibit owners and drivers of vehicles licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission (“TLC”) from using automatic license plate readers in or on such vehicles. The bill would also prohibit base stations and dispatch service providers from requiring, encouraging, or otherwise facilitating the use of automatic license plate readers in or on TLC-licensed vehicles. Violators would be subject to a civil penalty, and repeat violators could additionally have their license suspended, revoked, or not renewed by TLC.
