This bill would require the Commissioner of Correction to report annually on alleged incidents of physical violence against and sexual harassment of Department of Correction (DOC) and Correctional Health Services (CHS) staff by incarcerated individuals or other staff that occurred in the previous year. The Commissioner would also be required to report annually on DOC’s investigations of these incidents. Additionally, the Commissioner would be required to review the information collected and report annually on any updates made to DOC’s policies concerning physical violence against and sexual harassment of staff. The Commissioner would be required to submit the reports to the Mayor, Speaker of the Council, and Board of Correction and post the reports on DOC’s website. This bill would also require the Commissioner to ensure that staff have access to mental health treatment resources, and to publicize resource availability to staff.
